The first resort from the plan Azur (created to bring 10 million tourists by 2010), Mediterranea Saïdia was officially opened June 19, 2009 as the first tourists arrived.

The Mediterrania Saïdia, a seaside resort intended for a national and international clientele, extends through 700 hectares with an accommodation capacity of 30,000 people (of which accommodations for 17,000 people still need to be built) and includes 8 tourist compounds, 12 vacation villages as well as 300 villas and 2,700 apartments.

Two hotels are at present open but the resort will be fully operational in 2 or 3 years according to the resort’s organizers.

The resort holds the third port in the Mediterranean, three 18-hole golf courses, a 43,000 m2 « Medina Center » with the capacity of holding 160 establishments offering different services ranging from restaurants to shops.

Other resorts from the Azur plan are soon to open. The Mazagan will open in October and Port Lixus in Larache as well as the Mogador in Essouira will follow.
